Academy Conversion

Becoming an academy is possibly one of the biggest decisions a Governing Body will ever make. Schools Services are able to provide Governors, Principals and Head Teachers, with clear unbiased advice as they consider the decision. Once a school has taken the decision to convert, Schools Services is able to support the Governing Body and Principal or Head Teacher through the conversion process, delivering all of the tasks that are required.

Services that can be offered include:

• Assistance with registering interest with the DfE, completion of the Application Form and necessary Governing Body minutes.

• Liaison with the DfE throughout the conversion process, including assistance with the Grant claim.

• Provision of legal adviser services through our partner, Schofield Sweeney, and the project management of all legal tasks and activities including registering the Academy Trust and signing the Funding Agreement, agreement of land transfer arrangements and the preparation of the Commercial Transfer Agreement.

• Supervision of the TUPE process and liaison with the Local Authority.

• Delivery of the consultation process and production of the consultation report.

• Liaison with YPLA regarding the indicative funding letter and assistance with new financial systems and contracts.

• Assistance with developing plans to support another school.

• Assistance with other matters such as new CRB checks, re-branding of signage and stationery, insurance requirments and completion of registrations.
